Description:

The only specimen that appears to be succeeding in the bay area is in the ideal conditions of the Lakeside Palmetum. It is one of the palms which will not tolerate the winter cold of the interior regions or the lack of summer heat along the coast; therefore only likely to succeed in the most favored banana belt around the bay.
